Routeing Charts, also known as High-Level Planning Charts, show a view of prevailing currents and winds which are normally at a scale of between 1:5,000,000 and1:20,000,000.   They cover the major oceans and seas of the globe.  Each area has 12 individual charts from 1 for January through to 12 for December.

Thesecharts are used for Passage Planning. They often include routes and distances between major ports, ocean currents, ice limits, load lines and wind roses with expected meteorological and oceanographic conditions for each month of the year.
