Because there are now so many ENCs in AVCS we have had to modernise the service since the days when we issued Base and update discs.
Very few customers use the Base and Update downloads so they are only produced at 6 month intervals and will shortly be retired completely because they are extremely time-consuming to process.
Cumulative weekly DVDs are still issued each week and can be downloaded or received on disc.
Zip files of the week-only are available for download, which are smaller than the cumulative weekly update CD zip files.
All the weekly outputs are now available from the ADMIRALTY File Share Service https://fss.admiralty.co.uk
Recommend that vessels use back of bridge software to manage their data and permits. This allows them to download only the data that they need, rather than very large datasets containing the whole service. Obtaining data in this way will also give access to up to date ENC updates, instead of the weekly batches.
